I also have an answer, GR, but I am not going to post it on this thread.

I am also not going to pm mod 2 to ask her why this thread was repeatedly edited, when it certainly did not contain anything outside Yael's guidelines, which ruined a very interesting intellectual debate. If the discussion got a little heated, well, it's fair enough to disagree and I think there were some slightly less than polite remarks on both sides. I am going to ask her in public, just like the thread was edited in public.

Am I supposed to take you up on the challenge Wink

1. SHalhevet as my signature says I am only here as a moderator to keep the site for how it is intended.
Remember a heated discussion is one thing but once it crosses the line and there is a misunderstanding, judgements being made, then I have to step in.

2, Your post was not the only one that was edited, all sides of this thread had an editing job! Do not take it personally though, we all slip once in awhile (psss I have had in the past an editing job on a post/s of mine too you know embarrassed ).

Any further discussion you want to pursue on this, you are welcome to contact me via pm . Thanks.

Rabbi Pam z'l, former rosh yeshiva of Torah Vodaas, defined "daas Torah" as follows:

"Daas Torah emerges after decades-long immersion in the Sea of Talmud. It comes from strenuous, relentless effort to understand the word of Hashem. It comes from total submission to Hashem's will, and from a life lived in holiness and purity, unencumbered by physical desires. It flows from a person whose very essence has been elevated by Torah; everything in his world is based solely on Torah. The mind of the talmid chacham will bring a clear perspective to all that transpires in this world. Such a person is endowed with daas Torah."

In an address to mechanchim in 1989, Rav Pam prefaced his remarks by saying, "Some may think that they are coming here tonight to hear "daas Torah". Know that all you will hear tonight is "daas Avraham Pam."
