I find the concept extremely strange and I have never seen anyone wearing someone else's name on jewelry.
There are ways in which one can wear jewelry that is symbolic of one's love and closeness. A name seems over the top. A heart is a cliche but rings themselves without anything else are symbolic of eternal love.
Also you can gift jewelry that is engraved. My mother collected old jewelry and she had a gold bangle that was engraved on the inside - With Love and a date in 1900
