Sounds like the biggest difference is that there is no set curriculum.
Most BY schools follow a set curriculum while there will be difference between school and towns, when you send to a BY school you know what to expect.
In a Chasidish school it sounds like even in the same Chasidish the curriculum can vary from very intense to very not. From text based learning to not very much.
