Marvelous, so you have internet at home but not a smartphone??? Its the same thing!!!! Oh my!! Everything can be used correctly or not.
These cards have not taught some boys chutzpah, they have taught countless boys chutzpa. This is a whole movement, they have programs and give prizes to the boys. And if a man wants to make a revolution against smartphones, doing it through kids is absolutely not the right way to go!!

These cards were banned from my house at the start but can we please STOP talking about people. Someone who passed away last week no less?

It is my understanding that he had good intentions, misguided perhaps? Talk about the cards itself if you wish, throw them out, burn them, whatever works for you. But please let's stop talking about people on here...

Firstly my kids have no idea what a smartphone is, although I have one. The ones that collect(ed) the cards used to say all that time the the smartphones need to be burned with the chometz although he had no idea that his Mommy's phone actually is a smartphone.

Secondly, there are better ways to get your point across without using violent graphic pictures. My young kids(that were given these cards) were horrified seeing a picture of a father stepping on his baby that was laying on the floor ,or a picture of a father depicted as a gorilla. They were unable to make the connection that it's supposed to show what happens(in the creators mind) when parents' use and are distracted by technology.

Oh boy my blood is boiling. These cards are treif and it's insane that in a chassidish world where everything is banned, these weren't obliterated.
The founder may have died but it was taken over by other dumb people.
I seriously can't fathom how the "powers to be" haven't stopped this.
My kids know these cards are disgusting and so wrong. They don't bring them home. But it's still in circulation at cheder.
Disgusting.

Marvelous I don't know in which sand you've got your head buried but these cards are dangerous. The guy who put this into circulation is no tzaddik even though he isn't alive. He created a terrible monster.

Thankfully my son never got any of these in shul or in school.

My neighbours kids were playing with them a few years back and I warned my son not to touch them.

I have a heavily filtered smartphone, my children don't use it or even touch it. My son didn't even know it was a smartphone or what a smartphone is. My neighbours kids repeatedly told my son that his parents are terrible because they have smartphones. They would accost me in the building and tell me I mustn't use a smartphone. They don't even ever see my phone so they made that assumption based on their narrow mindedness and lack of education: because I wear a 'long' sheitel and I drive.

My son didn't even know what they want from him.

I warned them that if they mentioned it another time I would get them into trouble.

How is teaching kids about smartphones protecting their innocence?

I used to not have internet at home or a smartphone. I knew it wasn’t the end of the world, but felt that it was a precaution that was important enough to take.
Then I found out that dh worst betrayal happened w/o internet.
And now I know that internet is not the cause of anything. I still don’t think unfiltered internet is smart, but having a smartphone or not is not gonna make it or break it. A filter might.
Now that we have internet at home we are all stronger since we only have access to filtered— before b/c we didn’t have we had to constantly end up going to use unfiltered in other places.

My kids trade them because they're popular in cheder. I use the opportunity to knock the content of the cards and to show my kids to use critical thinking, to teach them how even if this is what someone says or "everyone" is trading these, doesn't make it right. Not that my kids know what a smartphone looks like...

One time, a kid asked DH something but DH was distracted. The kid asked again. DH pulled himself to attention and jokingly told the kid, "Look, I didn't hear you before, and I don't even have a smartphone!"

Rather than banning (and following the same path of extremists banning smartphone), we discuss.

That is not true! Of course internet is not the "only" cause of sin, she posted that her dh did the worst even w/o internet, that doesn't make internet kosher even with a filter! Filters are not fool proof and can easily get overrided.. We became so one track minded that if one sins w/o internet influence, it's a proof that it's not so wrong because you can also sin w/o internet.. Of course the way is not to totally ban it, we need to have self control, but putting yourself into a nisayon is what we will be paying for, not the aveira itself. Having internet at home might be very dangerous in the long run.. especially once you have teenagers.. It's such a painful topic, hope you'll never have to deal with these issues...

Its parve until you use it for good or bad. Like everything else in life.

My husband was recently hospitalized. One day, he took a turn for the worse. I was terrified. I sat in the waiting room crying. Then I realized ... I could access tehillim through my smartphone. So I said tehillim while he was in surgery. What a blessing!
