It seems to be generational. Most (generalizing here) people under the age of 30 or even 35 find print easier.

OP, unfortunately even though it is minimally useful, your son will still have to do learn and practice it because that's the school's policy. |

I'm 24 and still default to script. As for computers-I actually went though a period-in college, no less!-where I would write out all my papers longhand. I would then transcribe them on to the computer. To be fair, most of my friends did think I was crazy. And I wouldn't let a high schooler use a laptop for taking notes, no matter how good their typing skills are. I sat behind too many people in college who were simply playing games or surfing the internet when they had their computers in class.

I'm 34...and my "printing" is a hybrid between print and script. It's certainly not block letters. But when I write thank you notes I use script.
