Pain is my partner, too, Robyn. We're in a long-term relationship right now.
Try this one. I'm not a great writer of poetry, but this is dedicated to my ex:
To the Love of My Life:
I love you,
I hate you.
You left me
And you moved on.
You found new love,
But I'm still here -
Alone with my pain
And myself.
Long, lonely nights
With my hopes, my memories,
My pain, my tears,
And myself.
"Love of my life"?
No more.
There is only me
And myself.
Your love crushed my self,
Like a moth
Burned in the flames
Of your very intense self.
Thank you for leaving.
For now I exist.
My pain helped me find
Myself.
