I don't know, I bought some when they first came out a few years ago for work (and always wore spanx underneath so it wouldnt look maternity, just loose) and now I am using them for maternity! 
OTOH, I had a supervisor that had a very "round" figure and whenever she wore those she looked VERY pregnant. I thought it was very unflattering.

I just bought a bunch from old navy  I think they make me look skinnier than other tops since I have a small pouch....and my dh thinks they are cute. I doubt anyone would have the gall to approach me, then again I shouldnt put it past people these days, yet I dress for myself and my dh..not all the people staring out their windows figuring out my cycles alongside my choice of clothing.
