I watched the video and I find it very disturbing. She was in the living room, no where near the water. They told her to go shut the fire. She took the pot off the flame and it looks like she was going to put it down. She was friendly. The officer said put the pot down, I'm going to shoot you in the face. She crouched down repeatedly saying sorry with her hand on her forhead protecting herself. The officers moved CLOSER to her with their guns drawn. Then there are gunshots and only AFTER the gunshots do you see the smoke on the chair. She must've dropped the pot as she was shot to death.

She definitely threw the water before she was shot. If physics are scientific laws. Look at the timing and direction and how far the water went.

I played the video on .25 speed and the water only spilled after she was shot.

The Law of Self Defense lawyer breaks it down in the Q&A video I posted above with the timing (and also explains what the wrath of j comment means and how it's a threat). There's a screen shot from the video of the pot being thrown, not dropped. Even Nate the Lawyer, who thinks these cops escalated the situation, shows from the video (2nd body camera footage) that she threw the pot.

I rewatched it a few more times at .25 speed and I see that she did indeed pick up the pot and throw it before being shot. I personally think the cops escalated the situation..but she was not innocent.

If it was spilled because she was shot it would've gone mostly on her. Considering that it spilled about a foot and half (judging off a video I watched yesterday so don't hold me to it) away from her, and the top of the pot is at an angle pointing at the cops, she must have thrown it at em.

I guess I'll watch the videos if I can stomach it, but can anyone explain, even if she was holding a pot of boiling water in her own home, why that would justify killing her?

Serious questions since I haven't watched this. It's not a crime to hold a pot of boiling water. Was she chasing the cops with the boiling water? Why were they in her house? Were they unable to leave her house if they didn't feel safe? Did they need to stay in her house for some reason and that reason was so compelling that it justified shooting her to be there? If anyone thinks the cops were okay to do this, would you feel the same if the shooters weren't cops but simply guests in her home?

She "called the wrath of J" on the cops and lifted the pot of boiling water from the flame. The cop(s?) (legally) took out their guns at that moment. Apparently that's said to eradicate the demons in someone. They took it as a threat in the context of her previous somewhat erratic behavior. She ducked behind the counter with the pot and then quickly rose and threw the pot and contents at the cops. He shot almost simultaneously with the throwing.

The second Law of Self Defense video addresses why they couldn't just back up - they would have lost track of her (I added the part about the knives above.) He also points out that had the cop shot afterwards this wouldn't have been lawful/self defense since she'd be apparently unarmed. (I've watched a video of his in another case where he felt the shooter should have been prosecuted since he shot 5 seconds (I think) too late. Mr. Branca doesn't just see self defense in every shooting...)

It's tragic. I keep thinking about the guy in Boro Park years ago... We all said the same thing "he was only holding a hammer"

(I also keep thinking of my own neuro divergent kids who might one day be in a similar situation. I don't have any answers other than to daven)

The officer who killed Daniel Shaver was found not guilty, even though shaver was following orders and crawling on the floor at the time.
Later, the officer said that he was justified in shooting Shaver because he was crawling toward him.

The fact that Massey's shooting is turning into a race thing is disgusting.
