I don't feel comfortable using bleach for dishes. How diluted is it when you use it?

I use it full strength, which is a colossal waste of bleach, but I love the instant gratification of seeeing the stains disappear before my very eyes. also I don't want to leave dishes full of bleach--even diluted bleach-- lying around for any length of time. using full strength I can rinse right away and get it over with.

read the bleach label; it will tell you what dilution is effective. All you need to do after is rinse very well.

BTW it may interest you to know that in some dental offices they use very dilute bleach as a disinfectant dental rinse during some procedures. and of course the chlorine in swimming pools and in your mikveh is basically the same thing--which is why your swimsuits fade even if you swim in an indoor pool.

I clean mine out with q-tips and toothpicks. as good as new

Q-tip works very well, no matter how old the mold is.

I also use q-tips and toothpicks.
I noticed the mold didn't start until we used a bit of juice.
I clean them once a night and just leave to dry upside down on the dishrack. That way the water falls out - mold doesn't grow anymore!!

pipe cleaners ... they are like mini-bottle brushes ... get into the crevices - into built-in straws ... or else wash them immediately with soap and warm water (okay unrealistic)

I'm glad to read this too. We don't get mold - we only use water and milk, but the milk stays stuck in the straw. Yuck.

Clorox makes a Clean-up spray called Clorox Clean-up. It's a diluted bleach. I use it for everything from cleaning my sinks (makes stainless shine in seconds!) to cleaning sippy cups and mugs. I shpritz them as soon as I start the dishes, add some boiling water and the valves and let them sit while I wash the rest of the dishes. They come out beautiful. It's also good for those nasty coffee stains on mugs.
