Seems to me it's emotionally harder to have 'em schected if you name them.
What does goat meat taste like?

some of us love our pets ...
or should we talk about killing your pet kitties or birds for dinner

when I was a child we had a book called
Don't Get Perconel with a Chicken by H. Allen Smith (1959, Hardcover w/jacket)
(available on ebay for $5 and I'm very tempted) but I seem to remember that the central idea was you shouldn't name pets you plan to eat.
