There are so many Chevys. Do you have a Classic? A Malibu? A Cobalt? Etc...
The Tribute is, yes, cheaper (I had one, till it expired) but it has pathetic limits, and is not that easy to use. It's a good occasional seat, but not a good long term one.
Is the convertible RF or FF? That makes a difference. How are the seats fitting now?

Malibu.
Tribute sounds right... I don't actually see my pattern anywhere online. I'm currently using it for a 2 yr old so have plenty of time until we reach the limit - I guess my new carseat should go higher then 40lb? When do they hit that? Is it so terrible to use long-term? I'm using it for almost 1.5 yrs already, and while it's a pain to take in/out, haven't had any real issues otherwise. I don't really want to spend $150 on the next one.
My convertible is currently FF, but I want to be able to have a RF convertible, FF convertible and Graco infant carseat all in at the same time. Now, the infant seat is on one side, Evenflo on the other (was RF, just turned FF) and there's room for a skinny adult in between.

There won't be room for a convertible in that space. If you try putting the SR next to the Tribute, how much space do you have left on the side seat?
How much room does your 2 yo have height wise in the Tribute?
It's not terrible to use long term, it just doesn't end up being usable for older children to be harnessed, not comfortable for long rides, and very hard to adjust when installed RF.
If you want to get 3 in a row without buying a minivan, chances are you will have to buy expensive seats. It's cheaper than buying a new car.

You're right - he's 36 in already and it looks like the height limit is 40. So I guess the new plan is to fit in a new carseat FF, keep the Tribute RF and the Graco Snugride...
Any advice on what the new carseat should be? (and you're right about it being cheaper than a mini-van, but I'd still prefer not to spend too much)

That sounds doable. I don't know what model year your Malibu is (the older ones I think are more friendly for 3 across, and you have many options).
I think with the baby seat in the middle, you should be able to get in a skinny FF seat. Can you measure the space you have left after you put them next to each other, and we can get a feel of what we're working with (as busydev said, there is also the issue of puzzling, you want the carseat edges to be higher/lower than the one next to it).
I think you could easily find a FF seat that would work as long as it's not too big.

Thanks for all the help. I'll have to go measure. Is it too much to ask if it's possible to keep the infant carseat on one end? It sounds difficult to lift it up over another carseat...

I actually don't find it hard if the seat next to it is FF, but honestly I hardly ever remove the infant seat, and I just buckle in my baby when the seat is in already, so I might not be a good person to ask (also I have a minivan, so it's easier to climb in )
You may be able to keep the infant seat on the side, if the 2 convertibles are opposite directions, (middle being FF, other side being RF -- which I would do anyway because middle is safest and FF is not as safe and also because it's easier to buckle in an RF kid when another kid is not in the way) but I wouldn't guarantee easy success.
Honestly, your best bet is to ask on car-seat.org with the year model of your Malibu and see what suggestions they have
