Well I'm actually quite proud of myself that I had my daughters clothing, linen, towels washed and prepared for camp before the nine days. And I bought all nick nacks and stuff before. I'm very scattered by nature lol, and for me that was a huge accomplishment. I did buy her new socks and undies but I'm now thinking that maybe I should have bought more.....these things happen to me a lot and I have learned to roll with the punches....and not hang myself for it.

These are minhagim
...which should make them bendable...
...and how can there be halachot on a minhag??
Isn't a minhag something that was 'made up'?
Why are the 'rules' presented as laws?

Chani, there is a principle that minhag yisroel is considered just as strong as halacha.
Hashem WANTS rabbonim to help us decide how to be "noheig" our lives and the power he gives to rabbonim to decide is one of the ikarim of Judaism.
We're not talking about the rabbis you and I meet these days, but talmidei chochomim who knew Torah inside and out.
Tisha B'av never should have happened. It's a fault we as people had that caused it. As such, we should feel this pain and not even want to feel like getting dressed in fresh clothes after a luxurious shower, eating well, listening to music...but we're so far removed from this. It's the nature of aveilus to not be interested in such mundane things and the rules aren't to make life hard, but rather a natural outcome of the feelings that surround this time.
The BHM"K was destroyed due to divisiveness in klal yisroel. If we start talking negatively about our manhigim and the minhagim we have taken upon ourselves, we ourselves are contributing to the sinas chinam that prevails as strong as ever.

Please don't equate questioning with negativity.
Reread my questions and please explain how they are negative, or better yet, how I could reword them to be more palatable to someone like you...

I knew you were questioning, and therefore I answered you (I don't answer attacking posts.) I was just passionate about it and put a lot of energy in to getting my feelings across.
