My parents always bought me the best shoes b/c they said that arches need the proper support.

Our pediatrician said it didn't matter. Any comfortable shoes are fine.

Reviewed by I dont' care who, I can tell you when I bought at payless or not the greatest quality shoes my feet hurt me so why should I do that to my kids, If I find on sale a good company shoe then I would buy it but like queeny says you gotta get there. noone guessed yet the right amount.

$75?

How do you know the shoe fits the child right? At these outlets do they have workers who know how to measure properly?

I do not buy my kids shoes in payless or any such stores because they are usually not leather very badly made and are not good for the feet definitely when the child is still developing This was also confirmed by my daughters Physical therapist. Stride Rite shoes do not have any arch support. I though do buy good company shoes in Marshalls for my kids and I found on Zappos petit shoes for $30 weekday and a shabbos (but it was to big I still kept it because of the price she will need the shoe eventually) and a ricosta for $29 I did buy them I know there quality and there fit my duaghters foot is extremely narrow she can only wear petit shoes. I bought my daughter a shabbos Petit shoe in a jewish store and I spent $65 which if you look at zappos is cheap according to there regular priced shoes from petit which are $80.

I just don't see the point of spending so much money on a shoe she will hardly wear, let alone grow out of in a 2 months!

I agree with you queeny I am having a hard time with it but, when you don't have easy access to stores with good quality shoes for cheaper you dont' have a choice It is only her second pair & I want it fitted right. For my older one who is 2 1/2 I am going to try to find in daffy's for 30-40.

I got DD's first pair at Marshalls-an out of season pair of Stride Rites-for 13$.
her second pair is cute sandals from payless-10$!

why spend so much on brand names for a toddler? I'll have to deal with that when she is a teenager and going through the shopping peer pressure...

P.S. one of my friends is a PT, and she actually only shops at bargain places for her kids shoes. she claims all you need is a flexible sole. all the rest is just marketing Rolling Eyes

I have a couple of payless shoes that feel great-not the fake leather type. mine are the more casual summery types, slippers etc.
and I got DD the same type in her size.

Mumsy, our kids are not on their feet as much as we are. I will tell you, that I only buy EXPENSIVE "comfort" shoes for myself (birkenstock, Danskos)- I cannot even wear shoes from mid-range brands. Personally, I don't see any difference between cheap shoes from Payless and a nice pair of Steve Maddens or Nine West for myself. I only see a real difference when I buy really good shoes.

That being said, if you think about it, our kids are not on their feet as much as we are. I walk in the supermarket, my son sits in the cart. I wash dishes while my sons sits on the floor and plays with blocks.

Look, if anyone wants to go out and spend $60 on shoes for a toddler, bivakasha. That being said, it's REALLY not neccessary.

It's not necessary for your kid to learn to walk in proper shoes?
You yourself are admitting that you are buying your kid substandard shoes because "he doesn't walk much".
If kids don't have proper shoes, shoes that don't fit properly etc, they can learn to walk funny. Talk to your doctor about it. And if anyones kid learns to walk funny that not only effects their feet, but their legs, their hips and their BACK! That's not stuff you want to mess with.

Please! So that means you have to spend 60 bucks on shoes for them??

Like the other poster said, as long as they have soft flexible soles, which are just about any shoe you can find at Payless, their feet , and walking , and backs , hips will be just fine.

Do you think a huge company like Payless wants to get sued for 'causing bodily harm to children??

First off for feet to get ruined is by wearing wrong size shoes and not looking after ones health. Otherwise it's a bunch of baloney Exclamation Exclamation .
Look at people from the third world who have produced amazing athletes and nope they did'nt have brand name shoes growing up, I assure you Confused

I have had both doctors & pts tell me that shoes are only to protect the feet. Payless shoes are fine, but many of their shoes are not leather. For weekday shoes I am makpid on leather bcuz of the sweat factor.
Wait till they get older. My DS is 12 w/ a narrow foot & I had to spend $90 for shoes for him!! (kids size)

You don't see a difference between Payless and Nine West?? I see a HUGE difference. I once bought my daughter a cute pair of shoes from Target. They were such trash. I would only buy leather shoes, plastic ones make feet sweat, smell etc...

I find it really amusing that the night before Rosh Hashana, Jewish mothers from around the world are finding the time to argue about shoe brands for children. It seems like on this website people can get defensive about any topic out there! What's with that?
