Right after Shulem says that every person has their dead walking around with them in their minds, to have Ruchami stare right at the camera and say "yes" makes me wonder......
Also? All the babies this season made me want to have babies! How did they get the cutest babies alive???

Thank you. I had telegram but it kept stalling. In the end I deleted the app and installed it again, and that did the trick.
So a few thoughts.
I liked the episode. I don't enjoy seeing Shulem being such a jerk, but he literally can't help himself.
Good for Akiva that he stood up to his father and told him that he doesn't need his permission to stay married to Rachelli. Like Perchik told Tevye, "we are not asking for your permission, only for you blessing."
However, I kind of think that last charge was unfair. He accuses Shulem of wanting to keep him home with him, even to his grave. His proof is that he tried to stop him from marrying Elisheva, Libby and then Rachelli. This is simply not true and unfair. I think it's clear that Shulem DOES want Kiva to get married. He has never held him back, except when he thought Kiva lost his mind.
I think Shulem was being a rational and caring father when he dissuaded Akiva from going after Elisheva. It made no sense on so many levels. But when Elisheva agreed to get engaged, he was 100% for the shidduch. He wanted to schedule the wedding asap. He told Elisheva to leave Kiva alone when he realized that Elisheva was taking Kiva for a ride. That's when he stepped in. Maybe he shouldn't have gotten involved, but it doesn't mean he did it because he wants Akiva to never get married. On the contrary, he did it because he knew Elisheva would never marry Kive and he wanted Kiva to move on so he could marry a normal girl.
Libby, Shulem actually pulled strings to make that shidduch happen. Even though it was uncomfortable for him, and he thought it was odd for first cousins to get married, he helped Kiva.
And Rachelli. True Shulem tried to tell Kiva what a bad idea it was to be married to her. But let's not forget that he was shocked with Rachelli's revelation, and he reacted as any other father might, thinking of his own son and granddaughter (although others may have been a bit less obvious about their feelings.). And let's not forget that Kiva had a similar reaction when he first heard about Rachelli's condition. So its quite hypocritical of Kiva to expect his father to be so accepting at face value when it took him time to accept the idea as well.
Kiva was right to tell his father that as an adult, he is responsible for his own choices. But he wasn't right to accuse his father of not having his best interests at heart.
Another thing that bothered me was the whole scene with Nuchem and Shulem fighting. Very weird and unrealistic to come to blows like that. Very uncomfortable to watch..
Also, what's up with Lipa getting down on his knees like an Arab in middle of the road???
I think Nuchem was in the wrong.
Shulem was going to date Nechama, and he stole that from Shulem.
When Shulem got the donation, he also wanted half of the money, he was taking everything from his brother and was upset when Shulem paid him back.
He wasn't quite being the good brother either.

Nuchem did not steal Nechama away from Shulem. Nechama was not interested in him in that way, she said as much in an earlier episode.
When nuchem heard nechama whistling classical music, and mentioned he knew who she was humbing, that showed that they had something in common. He didnt steal her from shulem at all.

But she was willing to go on a date with Shulem after a while.
What kind of brother goes on a date with his brothers date?

This.
If your son had a date with a girl and your other son opened the door for her and then went on a date with her that would be disgusting. Even if maybe she didn't really like the first son, once she agreed to go out with him it's still awful second son took her out.
If I was Shulem I would've told Nuchem to go right ahead and jump.
I think they were wrapping up all the characters' issues from season 1:
Akiva - finally learns to think for himself and take charge of his life
Shulem - humbles himself and listens to others' opinions and learns to see things from the other's perspective.
Lipa - finally does teshuva. He had his faults and although he became very likable, he still needed to deal with his past.
Gitty - like her father, finally gives up trying to control everything around her
Chanina - I really like how he evolved and became more human. He went from keeping his feet in ice water so that he could stay up and learn more to waking up early to deliver mail to earn money. He never explains where he had money to buy an apt but the fact that he took off rom yeshiva to go apt. hunting was major for him.
Ruchami - Actually not sure about her. She still jumps into major life decisions without being logical. It was funny that it ended with her looking at the camera and not something with Akiva since he is really the main character. I guess the message was that having emunah makes all end well, but I still think she was crazy for what she did.

Nechama is not a commodity that can be "stolen" . She is a person with her own feelings. She obviously chose to go out with Nuchem rather than Shulem.
However, it would have been mentchlich for Nuchem to acknowledge that he was taking away Shulem's date. In fact, in the beginning of the 8th episode, he thanks Shulem. So maybe he asked him permission offscreen. But we see that Shulem never got over his jealousy.
But though it is unpleasant, it's not "disgustung" to date someone that was going to date your brother. As they say, "all's fair in love and war."
I just watched the last episode.
It's very open ended.
MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD............
But I am not sure at all that Ruchami survived the birth. The episode ends with Shulem saying that all our dead loved ones are always with us, and they start appearing around the table, and then with the same music in the background we are taken to the hospital where we see an other-worldly Ruchami. None of her family members actually talk to her, they are all cooing over the baby and saying she looks like Ruchami, as if Ruchami isn't even there. And Ruchami has the eeriest smile, straight at the viewer, as though she left the realm of the show.
Not only is it nuts - it's also a deeply problematic endeavor to embark on from a hashkafic and halachic POV. It's inherently un-Jewish to risk the mother's life in this way and no rav/posek would countenance it.
It seems so ridiculous to me that she backed out of the surrogacy situation because she couldn't deal with the halachic ambiguity yet she's Ok with basically committing suicide in order to try to give birth.
As someone said upthread, she wasn't the one who had a problem with the halachic ambiguity. It was her husband. She wanted a baby no matter what.

I agree that Nechama isn't a commodity that can be stolen.
That said, it's common courtesy to ask a friend/sibling before you date someone they were interested in.

Yes after three seasons of dead people showing up in scenes with the living I keep on wondering. Maybe that is exactly the point the producer is trying to make.

I don't believe so because she wasn't sitting at the table with all the dead people.

They do, someone squeezes her shoulder/arm and she smiles at them all and they're smiling at her and crying. Chanina is also looking right at her and smiling.

I think it's really open-ended. I just checked the Israeli news sites and they think so too, although OTOH they feel it would be shocking if the show killed off their star actress.

Shulem set a time with Nechama and then went to sleep.
She showed up and waited for him like an idiot.
Nuchem started talking to her to be polite.
Shulem made it very obvious that he wasn't really interested in her.
I was terrified Ruchomi would show up at the dead people table scene. The fact that she didn't is to me proof that she made it through alive.
A lot of Israeli media is saying that the writers took the easy way out- wrapping everything up so neatly.
I felt like I needed it.
At least I felt happy when it was over, not devastated like in some of the earlier episodes of this season.
They should have told us how Libi died though.
