There should have been a school Guidance Counselor (with professional qualifications) that a mechaneches could refer someone to when needed. Plus maybe, guidance as to how she could offer support without overstepping her bounds.
ETA I think I met with the Mechaneches in my high school once, for about 5 minutes. In addition to someone who spoke to me individually about seminary, which was about her plans for me and where I could be dumped, not mine. BH I got into seminary without her or my school's help.
