I know that there was another thread started on this but I was curious as to more stats on this so I figured that a poll would do the trick.
We had a pidyon haben and it was really nutty b/c it was the day after pesach which was also a friday!!!!
I changed the title for those who have girls first and also for those who had a problem with it. SORRY!
For those interested, here is a link to the other thread:

I had a boy, but my hubbi is a kohein, at the time I was relieved no extra work/expense, but now I look back and think it would have been really nice, especially since his bris wasn't that nice, oh well, we'll save some money for his opsher iyH .

We did not have a pidyon haben. My hubby is a kohen, we had a girl, and she was a c-section.
Some people may figure out who I am by this info, so I am posting anonymously. I know other people may be in the same boat, but all the same I feel more comortable this way.

My husband felt bad about the Pidyon HaBen, when the doctor decided about the C-section, but then it turned out to be a girl!

Our son's was first day chol moed pesach since he was born on purim. Since it was pesach we couldn't really have it catered which would have made life much easier. Instead we had to cook it all ourselves making our guest list smaller since we really couldn't afford that much. But it was still fun. It was teh fist pidyeon haben in my family for over 50 years. Also my husband had a pidyeon haben too.

I hadn't been to one until my son's. Then a week later, my friend made one. Then over the next year I went to a couple more. My sister had a girl 1st & my next sister is married to a levi. Hope another sibling has one. It's such a special & rare simcha.

My first son was born after a very early miscarrige, we were told we could have a pidyon Haben. Since my husband is sefardic we used a sefardic Cohen and did it in my FIL shul.
Sefardim are very inclusive of women, and so my FIL removed the plexiglass that is usally covered by curtains from the Mechitza, and pushed the curtains back the women all stood near the mechitza, (the women section is slightly raised over the mens, so actually they looked down) The cohein sat with us by the mechitza so that the women could see. he also did the whole thing in both hebrew and english. It was so beautiful!
Even my hungarian grandmother was happy with it! wich is a big thing because she can't stand the fact I married out of the "religion".
The Hard thing for me was that when I was asked if I had ever had a miscarrige, I had to answer "no". I felt I was being Unloyal to the child I had carried even if it was only for a very short time. Even though I knew I was halachicly considered as being a first time mother. It was still a slight mar on my Simcha. Although I feel very blessed to have been able to do a Pidyon Haben for my son.

Nope - no Pidyon Haben for us - I had a c - section, and boy was I relieved. The Bris was stressful enough! I was glad not to have to worry about another occasion with family politics, etc.
