I love this thread. I love crafts and creative stuff.

My biggest problem with sewing is fighting the machine. I remember a sewing class in HS where I would sew an entire seam on my skirt, only to realize that the machine wasn't threaded properly and I had punched a neat row of small holes instead...

Anyone have ideas for my 3.5 y.o. son and 1.5 y.o. daughter for Purim costumes? Something I can sew by HAND?

Thanks, but I think I'd have more nachas if I make something for myself. I'm not making anything for myself until I get to my goal weight Confused

My avatar is a picture of my son last purim dressed as a sunflower. I had alot of fun sewing that costume.

I would post clearer pictures but I have no idea how to.

I actually sewed this years costumes yesterday- they are being blueberries. As soon as I take pictures of my son dressed in it I will post it (if s/o directs me how). - The second one is only in sono pics as of now Wink

- I'm making that costume in a 0-3 months size - hope it fits right, but I don't want to leave it for after.

I don't really sew a/t reall besides for wool caps I made for yom tov- that a friend showed me how. I enjoy doing costumes, because I dont work w/ patterns & it doesnt have 2 b perfect. sometimes you can really save $ - this years costumes supplies cost aprox $6 each- I think last years supplies cost aprox $8!! when I sewed the caps it cost me $7.50 each versus the $35 they sell it in the store for.

Here is a baby blanket I made for someone. It is made of two layers, one layer of cotton print and one layer of hemp/cotton fleece. Then there are stars are appliqued onto the hemp layer.

Here is a dress that I made for my daughter. It is pretty big on her in these photos. This is such an old project, though, that she's outgrown it now and it's the next daughter's drawer.

Bina- that blanket is AWESOME. Really, looks so warm, and stylish, too!

Hadasa, I so agree- making costumes is a pleasure because you don't have to worry about perfection. He's one cute flower!!

Here is the gown I just made for myself for my sister's wedding. Btw I barely knew how to sew on more than a button 6 weeks ago.

This was a short sleeved dress, I just lengthened the sleeves and poofed out the skirt more with tulle.

Is that a maternity wedding dress, can't tell for sure. Where did you pick up this awesome floral accent? And who taught you how to sew?

Yes its a maternity dress, I took a regular pattern, cut the skirt too big and pleated it in so I have room to grow. Trim is from MJ trim in Manhattan, and I took private sewing lessons in my home.
