who does that at 11 in the morning on a weekday? if it hadn't been you it would have been the lady next door ringing the bell to borrow a cup of sugar or the kid from cheder collecting for Pe'eylim.
what language is the word "beshow" anyway, and does it rhyme with know or with cow? |
know. It is a sit in date. Depending on the level of chassidush, the parents of the girl may be in the kitchen themselves or with his parents while kids are in the dining room. Sometimes, although extremely rarely, the parents are there too in the same room.
What I think most likely elf walked into is the parents meeting each other. Sometimes that happens after the boy meets the girl and his parents.

The funny part is, I didn't really feel embarrassed, more like a combination of surprised/amused and disoriented. I hadn't slept much last night, and it took me almost two hours to drive to Brookyn, so it's really a wonder my mind was even able to process what I was seeing. But even now 12 hours later, I can see it in my mind quite vividly. And to clarify, the lady, when she opened the door, didn't seem at all annoyed, more like surprised/sheepish. You're right though, it was 11 AM, anyone could have showed up there...I'm surprised no Imamothers know these people and can tell us what the verdict was....

ShakleeMom, I like what u wrote!
Maybe they have a bunch of nosy kids that would be home in the evening, and that's why they decided to do it at 11am - when everyone else should be at work/school.
But Murphy's law: The one day you don't want the clients - they will all show up at once!
