I have a friend who just completed geirus, and would like to give her a gift. Any ideas?

A sefer is always a nice idea. It's a lot of kesef to build up a library. I would suggest one of the ArtScroll books like The Halachos of Brachos or something like that that she doesn't have would be a great idea.

And how comfortable does she feel about the whole geirus idea (I.e., would she appreciate something symbolic or something more generic and not specifically related to the event)?

I just gave a young woman that completed her gerus a pair of travel candlesticks. A siddur with her name is a nice idea as well.

I like the siddur with name idea too, if she already has you can do machzorim or tehilim with name too.

Are you wanting the gift to be from just you OR are there others who'd be able to combine funds with you, all sign a card, and present her with something of enduring value?
My suggestion, if you have others who wish to participate, is to present her with a matching Shabbos/Havdalah set...a menorah/candles/dreidel wouldn't be a bad idea, either! (Especially now with them being clearanced!)
Perhaps a group of you can take her to lunch and make the presentation much as one would a kallah-to-be!
Hey, she's been to the mikvah, throw her a "shower"! LOL! Wink

By the time you get to your conversion, you've been living a Jewish lifestyle and have most likely already acquired a havdalah set, menorah, etc. Unless you are sure she doesn't have something and are VERY sure you know her taste, I think the siddur/tehillim/sefer idea is better.

Love that shower idea LOL
Actually, I'd like to give her something just from me - Siddur is a great idea - I hope she likes it!

Is it too late to ask her to "register" at a Judaica store??

Then you know what she has/wants, esp. as far as sefarim!

What about a mezuzah or name plaque for the door in Hebrew or a Bircas HaBayis? Something for her "new" home.
