I made 2 loaves of sourdough bread
2 loaves of honey whole wheat bread
2 batches of banana cake
1 tray of oatmeal/choc chip bars
Israeli toasted pasta
the fixings for cholent
soy milk
meatball soup
prepared chicken for the grill
yams
cabbage salad
kholrabi/raddish/carrot salad
and have chicken soup from the freezer and also a Yerushalmi kugel
and still have to clean. I bet no one will want to eat anything anyway. My hands are dried out.

Note the size of the baking pans. I make mine in a loaf and "English Cake" pan and they aren't big enough - I need to buy bigger pans for this recipe. It makes a lot of bread. Also, don't bother with the rolling out of the dough - in my experience, it just messes up the end product. I use more whole wheat than the recipe calls for - if you are a bread baker, you know how to play around with these things!
Honey of a Whole Wheat Bread
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
* 3-1/2 to 4 cups all purpose flour
* 2-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
* 2 pkg. active dry yeast
* 2 tsp. salt
* 1 cup milk
* 1 cup water
* 1/2 cup honey
* 3 Tbsp. oil
* 1 egg
Preparation:
In large bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour, the yeast, and salt and mix well.
In saucepan, heat milk, water, honey, and oil until a thermometer reads 120-130 degrees F (warm). Add liquid mixture to flour mixture along with the egg and stir to combine. Beat this batter for 3 minutes. Then, gradually stir in rest of whole wheat flour and enough remaining all-purpose four to form a firm dough.
Sprinkle work surface with flour and knead dough, adding more flour if necessary, for 5-8 minutes until smooth and satiny. Place dough in a greased bowl, turning the dough in the bowl to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour, until double in bulk.
Punch down dough and divide into 2 pieces. On lightly floured surface, roll or press each piece of dough to a 14x7" rectangle. Starting with shorter side, roll up tightly, pressing dough into roll with each turn. Pinch edges and ends to seal and place dough, seam-side down, into greased 9x5" bread pans, making sure short ends of bread are snugly fitted against the sides of the pans. Cover and let rise in warm place until the dough fills the corners of the pans and is double in bulk, 30-40 minutes.
Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 35-40 minutes, until bread is golden brown. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks.

I think I've come up with some sort of a menu:
Fri. night:
bought and homemade dips and salads (chummus, matbucha, red cabbage, Israeli salad, and maybe avocado)
sweet and sour meatballs
Chicken soup w. shkedey marak
Chicken L'orange (of some sort that I will figure out tomorrow) baked on a bed of potatos
whole wheat pasta with a souce of cherry tomatoes, garlic, and basil
for dessert: maybe fresh fruit maybe we'll pick something up at the bakery.
Lunch:
salads (like in the evening)
turkey cubes baked with onions
white rice
left overs from dinner
and I have a spinach noodle kugel in the freezer if needed.
dessert: ???
Shalishudes (never spelled this out in English before)
various cheeses, salads, pudding for the kids.

I decided at the last minute to add glazed carrots and sweet potatoes to my menu. I can't stop cooking today. Every time I think I've finished, I futz around some more. I wish somebody would come over and do my dishes.

Thank you for making me feel that I'm not alone or crazy...or we're just both crazy. I ALWAYS do the same thing to myself. I do my cooking Thursday night. Then Friday comes, I decide to make just one more thing...then I get in the mood for something else, and make yet another...then I end up rushing till the last minute, and DH is stuck with a huge pile of dishes!
