what is a good chanukah gift for teachers?

any idea of a good chanukah gift for teachers?

it I so hard to know what toget, cuz you cant spend a lot or a little and it has to be something that the teacher will enjoy.

any ideas?

ok thats a good idea but a gift certificate to where? and what?
and then you have older teachers, miggle age teachers or girls just out of sem that arent married,

how about the bus driver? and the bus morah, or even a rebbi?

As a teacher I'll tell you that any gift if accompanied by a meaningful letter or poem is really appreciated.

As a teacher, if you can't afford much, rather just write a nice letter and/or have your child write an appreciative note.
DON'T buy a shmatte just b/c u need to be yotze buying a gift. You could even send a small box of chocolates.
If you don't mind spending more, I second the idea of a gift certificate and you could always get it at a local Jewish book store. That's always useful.
Does anyone perhaps know if any online bookstores do gift certificates?

when I taught these were gifts that I got:

picture frames
glass bowl
wine glasses
staitonery
bath soaps
leather gloves
leather change purse
gift certificate (I wouldn't sudgest b/c then u have to spend more)
silver key chain
cookbook

my dh received as a gift once a gift certificate from www.giftcertificates.com it was great, because I was able to pick the store I wanted. I ended up buying an expensive set of pots on overstocks

If you live in the NY area, there are candy stores that sell prewrapped Chanukah dishes filled with candy & chocolates. They are very nice. I dopn't spend a lot at Chanukah & then give a mishloach manos at Purim & then a more expensive gift at the end of the year.

As a former teacher, anything is appreciated. Even a note. It's just nice to hear a "Thank You" once in a while.

Just a question - if the main teacher's 19 yr oild daughter is an assistant in the morning, I should give her a gift separately from her mother, right?

Definately give her something seperately. She's still a seperate person who is helping with the education of your child and needs to feel appreciated as such.

I figured it our for evrybody what to get
besides for the bus driver somebody told me that we have to give a tip more than a gift how much $ is a good tip????

since when has chanukah become a time to give gifts? this seems very much like a non jewish minhag.
there is no source whatsoever for giving teachers a gift for chanukah.
