It’s plastic, though. Even with a towel as a buffer, I imagine it will melt. It might help to steam it in the shower.

All the skirts now that are leather looking are plastic
You see them everywhere.

For you to say it won’t end well is super unhelpful

I didn’t mean to be unhelpful. I wouldn’t use an iron directly on the fabric, I meant that to be helpful. Steam might do the trick. I hope someone else chimes in with more helpful advice.

That’s why I posted the question here:
as I’m aware that an iron directly on plastic would ruin it.

Dry cleaner might be able to help you.

Look inside the skirt for a fabric care label that will have instructions. My pleather dress says you can iron on wrong side with coolest setting on the iron. I choose not to believe this. It's plastic after all. You might try aiming a blow dryer at the worst of the wrinkles, just enough to soften the plastic a BIT, then gently smooth them out with your hands.

The ali skirt is actually plastic, not leather looking plastic. They cannot be ironed.

Maybe take it to the cleaners, but it might cost you more than the skirt.

I would try steaming lightly. If you don't have a steamer, hang it in bathroom while showering. Might need a few times, but it's most gentle this way.

Shower steam and the put it under heavy text books.
I would limit both the water and heat.

Turn skirt inside out, use a thin fabric like a cloth diaper on top, and iron on a very low setting. Worth trying.
Keep in mind that sometimes the creases in these garments don't come out.
