If you work in an office, do you keep on your desk/accessible?
Do you take personal calls sorting work? What about texts?
I work in a company for 7+ years and my boss gets annoyed when I answer a personal text in work.
I do it responsibly but It’s really hard for me to be totally disconnected from the world for these 4 hours im in the office. I don’t take a lunch break.

It's quite common in Israel for people to use personal cellphones at work, so I don't see an issue.
But I know people who work in settings (esp in the molitary) with more stringent policies.

Right. I think in a school setting or retail I can see why it’s not appropriate. But for a single girl office and I’m a responsible woman 35+ not on WhatsApp all day, it feels degrading

Every office/business has different policy regarding cell phone use during office hours. 4 hours is not that long. I wouldn't/don't answer calls/texts unless it's an emergency.
If your boss didn't tell you that policy is that you shouldn't answer personal calls/texts, then just ignore the annoyance & keep it to what's important.

Agree with you. As long as it doesn't impact your work, you should have some flexibility there.

I have never worked in an "office" where people could not make personal calls. Back in the day before cell phones, people used the phone on their desk. Obviously if someone is on the phone for a significant amount of time their manager can discuss that this isn't acceptable
There are certain situations in which phone calls were never made - teachers or retail workers for example didn't talk on the phone except in an emergency and then the call was generally to the central office where they would go to take the call.

That sounds so controlling to me. I would not be okay with this rule and would wonder what other rules the boss would come up with for me next. Four hours is a long time to be unreachable, I’d get so much anxiety from it.
