My babysitter wants to take on another baby it’s a group of 3 babies. She asks all the moms if it’s okay. I said no but the other moms said okay as long as she’s not too overwhelmed by it. But I know she will be she’s already overwhelmed when all 3 babies are crying… what do I do? I feel bad that I said no but I’m doing it for my baby’s sake. Also what’s your opinion how many babies is too much in a babysitting group?

How is your babysitter supposed to make a living on just 3 babies? I don’t know how many is too many babies, but I know it’s not 4.

She shouldn't be asking you. If she feels she can handle it, she has the right. You can have a discussion about how she'll make it work.

Would you be open to offering a couple of extra dollars per hour to help her stick to the same format?

Are you going to be paying go less for her to have 4 babies than for her to have 3?

What did you make up before you started?
Was rate based on how many babies she was taking?
How do you know she's already overwhelmed with 3 babies?

Personally I would be worried to send if she's overwhelmed with 3 babies!!
Experienced babysitter should have absolutely no issue watching 4 babies!!
Legal ratio in New Jersey in 5 babies per caregiver I believe!

If OP joined the group with the understanding the max would be three babies, then no the babysitter does not have the right to add more babies. Even asking is adding pressure to the mothers; no one wants to be the one to say no and potentially upset the sitter, which could change the care the sitter provides her kid.

OP, what was the agreement when you started using this babysitter? Was size discussed?

If they don't have a contract, then it's at will. Either of them can leave or renegotiate as warranted

I am a babysitter and 4 is very doable. That's my ratio.

When I signed up she said it’s 3 babies that’s why I felt comfortable sending there

So stick to what you are comfortable with. She asked and you said no. That's your right. I would give her a nice tip;)
