So, this has been an ongoing discussion in my house for years. Where does the challah cover go after you make a bracha on the challah if you don't have a buffet or a piece of furniture to put it on that's near the table?

My husband puts it behind him on hanging over his chair or he will give it to me to put on an empty chair

A kid puts it in the drawer of the breakfront thats right by the table.
Anyone at the table can hold it until after they eat their challah and then put it away.
Or pass it to the end of the table if there's an empty spot

My husband throws it to the couch. And no, he's not a good basketball player.

On the counter that we have in the dining room. My parents had a silver cabinet next to the table, it went in the rim of that.
If we didn’t have, then he would put it over his chair and put it away when he gets up.

He gives it to me:)
I fold it, put it next to my plate, and it’s cleared off with the Challah board.

My husband passes it to me to put on the empty area of the table at the other end. Otherwise someone can put it on the buffet behind us, or I hold it until my husband is done cutting and then he takes it off the table along with the challah board.

So for people whose husbands pass it to them, what do you do when you're niddah? I never wanted to start with that so it doesn't get awkward/noticeable when I can't take it from him.

ETA: I posted this as more of a humor (only in Jewish life) question but I am curious to know Very Happy

When I said that he passes it to me, I didn't mean literally, he usually just puts it down on the table between him and me and I take it and put it where I want it to go Smile
