My kid has RSV and after a few days turned lethargic. Ended up in the hospital. Needed IV fluids; and x-ray showed that it had turned into pneumonia. We spend a few days in the hospital. | This is what I'm concerned about. But were there signs of pneumonia other than the chest x ray? If dd's lungs were clear yesterday morning, then do I need to worry? I have a stethoscope here and I think I have some idea of how to tell if someone is wheezing. I listened to her before we went to the urgent care and she sounded fine, but I haven't listened since. I guess I will when she wakes up.
In general, she doesn't have the wettest diapers. She was wet when I changed her last night. When dh got home at 11ish, he woke her up so she rested on his shoulder for a few minutes before crying for me and nursing back to sleep yet again. She nursed in her sleep all night. I don't know if we ever lay down for more than 10 minutes at a a time. Now she is still asleep, and actually in my bed. Of course, when I have to be up, she can allow herself to sleep without nursing.
She also had a high fever during the night, even on motrin and with a tylenol suppository.
If she doesn't actually wake up for real soon and stay awake for more than 10 minutes, then I will probably end up taking her back to urgent care or maybe the ER.

OP, you're your child's advocate. Not a bunch of anonymous people on the internet who have never seen your baby. If something seems off or wrong to you, take her to a medical professional. Better safe than sorry.
Would you say where you're located? Maybe we can recommend an ER to go to. Not all are created equal.

OP, it is not normal for a sick toddler to sleep all day and then all night. She needs to be checked out fully, bloodwork and x-rays.

DD 3 had this over Chanukah, lasted just over a week it's a terrible virus going around and as long as they are drinking and breathing ok there is nothing to do.
DD was seen twice by Dr and did blood test on day 6 to confirm there wasn't anything else going on either as her fever was staying high even on ibuprofen and those trips was probably the longest time she was awake for.
After a few days Dr said it's going around strong in the neighborhood.

What is her oxygen saturation like? And breathing? Did her fever come down? And did she have a wet diaper this morning?
If all are normal, I would wait for your daughter's regular pediatrician who should be in within a couple of hours, I assume.

Again- was your kid wheezing that you could hear it with a stethoscope? Because I listened to dd again and I don't hear any wheeze.
Bh she is awake. She tried nursing back to sleep but I got her to stay up. She ate 2 bites of breakfast and then coughed so hard she started screaming. But she's been awake for 1/2 an hour.

RN here,
Pneumonia wouldn’t necessarily cause wheezing and if you aren’t trained to listen for wheezing you honestly might miss it. I think it’s best if you take her to see her pediatrician today. Refuah shelema

Pneumonia is not wheezing like RSV or croup. It’s a crackling sound. Can also be silent though.
We had an issue where Dr heard zero lung movement with stethoscope, which made no sense based on her O2 levels. Went for x-ray which showed massive distended stomach which was blocking her lung sounds. And she had pneumonia.
I usually go with my gut , if kid looks off, I’ll go back to Dr as much as I please. I’m usually on target though.
