I work full time. I have to work full time. We need the money I bring in. I wish I didnt have to work or not full time. I have so many different things I want to volunteer with, but that will never happen. Or when I retire but by then I wont have the stamina to do the things I want to do.
My husband has a steady job. It pays ok. Not great at all. And Im not looking to rock the boat.
I guess this is just a vent after reading all of the different working or not working because you love this person or that person threads.

I work because I have to but would love it if I didnt have to.

Volunteering is nothing more than work that you're willing to do even though you're not paid. So it may be less the actual working you resent than the fact that you don't have a choice about it. It may help you to reframe, to acknowledge that you would work even if you didn't have to, but you would work at something different. It's all about attitude, my friend. A good one perks you up, and a bad one drags you down.

100% the same. I wish I could spend more time with my kids, make three course meals for supper, have a spotless home (or at least a lot cleaner than it is now, and yes, volunteer. I wish.

Volunteering is doing things that are meaningful, chesed, cooking for bikur cholim... things like that. My day job is nice, but not particularly inspiring.

You're supporting your family. What's more meaningful than that?

Just FYI most moms who don’t work don’t have a spotless home and three course meals. Maybe when they get older and kids are teenage and up.

Ty for saying this.

I don't work. 3 course meals lol. I try to have something homemade ready for my kids and husband when they come home.

I have a baby and toddler home wit me all the time and another 2 preschoolers who have 2 be picked up at 2.

I worked until recently and also thought I would make gourmet meals if I would stop working...
