Im talking about a large kitchen. Not high end necessarily , but a large island, quartz counters, large fridge and freezer etc. Brand names don't matter to me. I don't need Wolff etc.
I would need to do the extension to build the kitchen.

Depends on the construction you need to do. You can definitely redo a kitchen on that number but if you need to actually build and add onto your house then probably not.

the extension alone can cost that

Large kitchen equals large area of cabinets, backsplash, tile, appliances countertops which are all very expensive

we redid our kitchen last year. we did not break the walls of our house. we have three sinks, two stoves, regular size fridge (didn’t have wall space for big fridge), small island, nothing high end, no fancy tile, but pretty and functional. It was about $125,000.
I do not yet have kitchen furniture, but I have new windows, and new floors, among many other things.

I did a large kitchen a while ago but was very expensive
didn't do the highest end but not the lowest either because you want quality items that will last etc
My dh used to work in construction and extensions are very $$$
I would get a quote for the extension first and see if you can afford that but dont think you will have any money leftover

Do you mind me asking approximately how much you spent?

You can redo a whole kitchen for $125,000 . I just did mine and was surprised how quick you can get there . You say you don’t want brand names but the only good quality fridge / freezer in the big sizes will be brand names etc . We got good prices on tiles but the labor is expensive etc . Esp if it’s big
What you can’t do is lay foundation and build out of your house that much . I we showed plans to a contractor and he gave us a quote . Now that we are done we see it was very on point . And that was with trying to be smart about quality and very nice but not super high end ( with high end there’s literally no end )

You're saying to expect a kitchen to be 125,000 WITHOUT the extension. Just the actual kitchen?

I’m saying if you’re not careful it could be easy to get there . I thought the very fancy kitchens you see in big new houses or in magazines were 125 . They’re not . Those are more like 300. It’s insane I know .
You need to price it out with a contractor . Then the supplies is up to you on how high end you go . There are three levels of cabinets . All stock , semi custom and custom. Huge jumps In pricing right there . Size of kitchen will also make a huge difference. More cabinets in a bigger kitchen . Windows ? Also an expense

Extension depends a lot on what material you’re using to extend (wood, brick, etc) how many windows, which floor extension is on, what type of foundation…

Would be built on stilts. Siding . Haven't given windows much thought but it isn't a priority to me. Meaning I would put in a standard style window but not looking for a huge bay window.
Maybe a kitchen around 500 square feet. Is that large?
I was hoping for
30,000 for cabinets
18,000 counters and backslash
1,000 electric and plumbing
8,000 appliances
2,000 floor
1,000 knobs and pulls

Then 100,000 for the 500 square foot extension on stilts. Including windows.

I guess I really need to get a contractor in to price out. But I don't want to go there if it's not even a possibility because I would becomes so disappointed.
