My 2-year-old daughter came home today from daycare today saying "boo boo" and dragging her right foot. She's usually very expressive and will cry to let me know if something hurts, but when I pressed different parts of her foot to check for pain, she didn’t react or complain. I took her to urgent care for a strep culture since I’ve heard foot pain can sometimes be linked to it, but the result was negative. She’s still limping and often resorts to crawling because it seems to hurt her. Does anyone have any insights into what might be causing this?

1-Ask teacher if anything happened

2-Wait for overnight culture results

I’d go for an xray can be a fracture or other issue.

Limping can be a sign of some serious things. Take her to pediatrician in the morning and make them do a thorough exam. Maybe bloodwork too.

Her Morah called me and told me that she woke up from her nap complaining and crying but didn't see anything happen to cause this.

It’s likely not this but have it checked just in case. Ask your doctor about Perthes disease. It’s more common for boys to have it than girls, but if it is Ch”v, you’ll be able to do more for it earlier

I am taking her tomorrow but wanted to hear if anyone else had this with their child.

You should take her for x ray in addition to pediatrician

Go do a throat culture. I’ve seen kids wake up limping and it was from strep.

Could be synovitis. If she is still limping tomorrow please take her to see the pediatrician.

I had this when I was a young child (as per my mom I was crawling because I said it hurts to walk ) and it was strep. In those days we only had the overnight culture and even today many times the rapid is negative …. I would first wait to see the overnight . If it’s negative then I would go take bloodwork as a next step

Yes, when my child was 2. Do blood work and have them check vitamin levels.

My son was limping and had fever and it ended up being septic arthritis. He needed to have his hip bone drained and once they tested it, he got antibiotics... we were in the hospital for almost a week
