I find the cashiers doing this mind numbing job all day can be careless. The amount of mistakes I've discovered on my receipts...

True, but a big supermarket like this should have 1 person manning the phones. KRM does! I was on hold for 5 minutes and then I got disconnected. I shouldnt have to go down there to correct an obvious mistake.

The store is known for consistent mistakes. sometimes they charge full price when an item is on sale or they charge for the same product twice. My husband does the shopping and every single time he leaves the store he checks the entire receipt for any mistakes and takes care of it right away.

If thats the case, it cant all be blamed on cashiers' errors. Its intentional mismanagement.

My grocery bill came out to over $500 once. Yah, I did a Shabbos shopping, but price sounded waaay off to me. I asked the cashier to check that everything was scanned correctly. They refused, they were like ‘you need to pay, and then dispute with customer service’.
lol, nope. I had them call someone else over, and I asked if I can just see a receipt or all the scanned items b4 I pay. She was like- you purchased a lot, this makes sense. I was like nope, it does not. Either I look at all items on your computer b4 I pay, or I leave everything here. She was like “ok, how much do you think the total will be? Um $250?
After that, she gave in. In 30 seconds, I spotted the mistake. Instead of say 25 of an item (don’t remember exact number), they entered 250 of that item. My real total was actually really close to my guesstimate. They didn’t even apologize.

Thanks for posting. Im sure many will benefit by knowing this! This is hard earned money thrown out the window!
I NEVER look at my receipt if the total sounds like its not way off. You can be sure ill start checking receipts now!

I know a few people who conscientiously have always supervised the checkout. They say they make mistakes very often (both directions), you should actively watch checkout.

Can you give examples of the mistakes?

So I have a weird quirk where when I get to checkout, I guess what my total will be based on what I purchased (mentally calculate the total), and then I check my estimate against the actual total. I’m generally pretty accurate, often within a $15 variance range. So when I’m way off, I know something doesn’t make sense.
But I’ve also really learned the hard way to check my receipts afterwards for accuracy.
Another example, different grocery, I was in a mad rush once. Purchased only 5-6 items for supper and was rushing to make it to the babysitter on time. When I paid; I knew it sounded off, but I didn’t have the time. Got home, checked receipt. The cashier accidentally used a different grocery account. Not even similar to my phone number. That account was signed up for automatic $5 donation to either tomchei Shabbos or similar with each purchase. So I got charged that $5.
The grocery said they couldn’t help me, as the funds went to that organization automatically, and I had to call them for a refund.
I just left it, but I was really annoyed because I was really watching every dollar right then.

Quantity mistakes are very common, I’ve seen it too often.
My mother was once charged $750 for a roast instead of $75. She picked that up rather quickly when the cashier told her the total was over 1k for a regular Shabbos shopping.

But the big supermarkets scan the labels, they dont manually put in the prices. So where did the extra zero come from?

Scanning too many times of an item
Missing scanning an item
Thought they scanned item but it didn't register
Wrong price in the system, typo, plus a zero, minus a zero, switched two numbers
Sale item registered as full price
Random item not yours was sitting there (or dishonest cashier wanted) and made its way in
Dishonest double scan and pockets the cash
That roast example happened to me too, pro tip, take a minute to read receipt before leaving parking spot, its much faster to fix in person.

I once had it with takeout food. I paid $70 for something I didn’t think would cost more than $25-30.
My husband was friends with the manager of the store and he sent him labels of the takeout prices ($22 for a small tin of green beans etc ) as soon as I came home. he realized the at the scale was set to 1.5 lbs instead of zero.
He refunded the price diff but I wonder how many ppl they overcharged until we made him aware.

Isn’t Bingo owned by Osher Ad from Israel? That’s why you’re getting Israeli customer service.

I also once had a very high bill and didn’t realize till I got home. I was charged for a case of avocados instead of just 1. It was 80 something dollars vs like 2. But I was able to reach the store and they refunded me.
I just had a crazy story. It was only a dollar but still. I was just finishing my shopping when the store announced that their internet was down and therefore they couldn’t take cc, only check or cash. People were leaving full shopping carts bec they couldn’t pay. I didn’t have patience to come back so I pulled out my checkbook, even though I really prefer not to use checks if possible. When they deposited the check- they must have typed a dollar more and the bank accepted it and took out more from my account, even though the check said a dif amount. I waited a week or so to see if the bank would realize and they didn’t. So I went to customer service, who tried to tell me that maybe there was a service fee. There’s no service fee on a check 😳. They finally gave me a credit on my account but so weird
