Hi,

I want to dress my 1 year old daughter as a shabbos pekele this Purim.

Does anyone have any idea how I can actually make such a costume? any pics or links?

Thanks

Is a shabbos pekal a thing? Never heard of that. Who do you give it to.
It may be a clunky costume and hard for one yr old to navigate

I've seen some people use a clear garbage bag for similar costumes. You can cut holes at the bottom for feet and tie a ribbon around her neck to "close" the pekel. Inside just dump a whole bunch of snacks/ candies or popcorn.

For a one year old, your first priority has to be comfortable, then cute. If she's not comfortable, you'll all be in for a miserable day.

What are other family members dressing up as? Maybe we can come up with a different idea for her costume.

A shabbos pekel is a bag of candies you give to the kids on shabbos afternoon.
I wanted to sew it but wanted it to be comfortable for her.

Also, wasn't sure how to creatively put the candies inside? Should I use real candies or just draw them? Somehow I think real candies will be so much cuter

Real candies are heavy unless you use big fluffy things like potato chip bags, large marshmallows...

I also didn't realize she was 1 so a clear garbage bag won't work. They sell clear plastic chair covers (like pillow case size) that would work better for her size.

I'm a new mom...
First 2 years we were a couple costume, last year my daughter was just born and I wasn't up to anything.
This year I wanted a cute idea but an easy one as the first 2 years although cute my ideas were a lot of work.
So this year my theme will somehow be connected to Shabbos as Purim is on Friday so I want to give shabbosdige shaloch manos. Obviously not regular challah and grape juice but I thought to give a cake in the shape of a challah, etc.
So my daughter I wanted should be a shabbos pekel.

Sew a bubble romper with sheer fabric. Tie a cute ribbon at the neck. Fill it with colorful fabric candy. Adorable! Add a little candy headband.

This is kinda what I'm taking about except you can fill it with different kinds of nosh. Leave it empty in the back so she can still sit comfortably and make sure it's above her knees so she'll be able to walk or crawl normally.

I think it's so cute that you're doing this! You and your husband can be shabbos totty and mommy!

Thank you! That is adorable!

Does anyone know where I could get such a thing? I guess I'll google it.

I agree the sleeves should be short, but the bubble should cover till her knees, to make the pekel look bigger, or no? What do you think?

Thank you for the idea!
And you're right about the crawling part.

I can't open the link as my filter is blocking it. Can you send me a screenshot instead?

Oh I hear.
We do shabbos party at table so if kids have nosh in bag was just because they took it on run.
...I was thinking something you give out to others
