Did you have him deliver your baby? Did you feel like you are in competent hands?

I met him a few times while I was there but he was not on call when I delivered. He seemed very good I know a few ppl who had him recently and were happy. I spoke to him for a while postpartum and he admitted me as well

Please do expand on this, as I am currently using them and have just developed preeclampsia, which puts me at high risk. I have never been to Jersey Shore either and am not sure about their level of care at all.

In regard to the above, please find a new doc ASAP
Friend just experienced this at end of pregnancy and they are unhelpful and causing tremendous issues in the way she is being managed. Care is very poor

I just want to say Dr Kugay was a life saver for me. I had a hard time being induced two weeks overdue and then progressing slowly. Unlike the midwife who took over her shift, Dr Kugay didn’t scare me about everything that could go wrong and be prepared for c section. Although I ended up with a c section, her kindness got me through the difficult labor. To add it was over shabbos and the midwife that took over made me feel like my support was gone. Once Dr Kugay returned I felt calm and she did the c section. If not for her encouragement I would have been totally alone.

I am so happy you had a good experience! Did you feel her hands were shaky and unsteady? I was nervous about her doing my c

When I was checked afterwards everyone said how good the stitching was done. They completely healed.

I don’t use Dr Surowitz but as far as Jersey Shore
I recently delivered there, I was hospitalized before delivery for a few days and had a high risk delivery so not a standard uncomplicated l&d
I had an AMAZING experience
My baby is still in the NICU there and we are thrilled with the level of care
I’ve had previous not amazing experiences with other depts in JS
But the l&d and neonatal team are TOPS
so so kind caring &competent in my experience
You may be delivered by a hospitalist or Resident because Surowitzs group is understaffed (the l&d nurses told me that!) the hospitalist I met was a sweetheart and so competent
And the resident who delivered my baby was amazing - I didn’t tear at all thanks to her! (Yes I know it was thanks to her)
Sorry I’m rambling I’m PP and exhausted. Tldr we were super happy in JS LOL

Jersey Shore has a high level nicu (they're also a level III nicu like Monmouth is)
