Looking for something 2 hours or so from NJ. Only have two days so can’t spend most of it traveling. We’ve been to Philadelphia, Stamford, New Haven, Manhattan… don’t want water parks, kids don’t know how to ski, not sure if snow tubing will work for the little ones unless there are places they can be on one with parents? Kids range from toddler- teen. Cool activities off the beaten path are best but will take any ideas.

It's a little farther than you asked for but I would look into DC, where most of the attractions are completely free - multiple Smithsonian museums, Capitol, Washington Monument, National Zoo, etc. The spy museum is lots of fun for kids but is not free. Char Bar has great family friendly food, and nearby Kesher Israel offers daily minyan. If DC hotels are too expensive you could stay in Silver Spring which is much cheaper and then commute in from there.
