Hey, so my kids (ages 7,4,2) all havw blankeys that they sleep with every night. We have. Bunch of similar ones so I can switch off and wash them.
Am I supposed to encourage my kids to get rid of it? And how? Or is it nothing negative?
I actually had a blankey my whole life (until today). It never caused me any harm. Socially, my close friends knew about it and teased me but it was more like a private joke and I didn’t get offended. Im just wondering if my mother did something wrong by not encouraging me to get rid of it somehow..
I still enjoy it for sensory reasons and emotional comfort I guess.which is weird, I know.

Nothing wrong with a comfort object. As long as it’s not brought into spaces where it doesn’t belong (I.e. family wedding photos) there’s nothing wrong with having it

This is not uncommon.

Not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but every 2-3 years I buy a new exciting one (that’s softer than now ratty one) and swap it out so they’re just attached to the idea of a soft blanket (totally socially acceptable and reasonably and easy to accommodate) instead of the specific blanket

There's nothing wrong with it. Actually adults who still have their childhood blanket tend to be healthier emotionally. (Random Google study)

All my kids, tot to teens, still sleep with their baby blankets. I don't see anything wrong with that or the need to stop it. They're not attached to it & don't take it along with them when we go away. They're able to sleep without it. (Not the toddler though, but that's age appropriate.)
OP, I see no reason to take away your kids blankets. They're young kids, it's good that they have a security item.
