Has anyone taken any of these types of courses? Have you found it helpful to get a job in that field?

Yes I took a course. It was well done, but it wasn’t enough for me to get a job in the field.

Thanks for answering! Do you mind sharing which field? Did you end up continuing your learning elsewhere or did you go into a different field?

I did a sample run of Copytribe, and then switched to the profitable freelancer track (Copytribe includes modules about copywriting as well as modules about building a business around it, and the business end part is or at least was available separately.) I decided not to pursue copywriting personally but the part I sampled seemed like it would be absolutely helpful to a career. The general freelance part I found very helpful too. Most of my work at this point is not freelance, but I was at kind of a crossroads when I took the course (I think it was during or shortly after covid?) and even though I ended up as more of an employee, I still feel I benefit from both the mindset work and practical tips that are still relevant.

It's true that most of the material can be found free or cheaper online, the course is a higher investment, but for many people digging around online isn't as productive as following a structured course with a group keeping you on track. I would just end up bouncing around the internet.

It was supposed to be all I needed to get a job so I didn’t continue and just gave up on the whole field. It was disappointing. I ended up getting a job in my previous field.
