Everyone is way too high end for me with perfect sheitels and brand name clothes and talking about where they want to go on vacation and about their summer homes... And I have nothing to talk about with them... I feel like the black sheep in the family

Half of them can't even afford it
Everyone is just out to impress everyone else but also they grew up like this and I didn't

That's so hard! See if you can get in the chanukah spirit on your own before you go. And just keep your focus on being upbeat. Tell yourself that you can handle the pettiness and you'll just concentrate on the memories being made of spending chanukah with family. You can do this!

If you have nothing to talk about and no one to talk to, can you do something instead? Can you run a game for the kids or be the photographer taking candid shots or bring some food that takes a long time to serve or prepare?

Also, there's nothing wrong with you if you instead sit on the side scrolling through imamother. Lots of people enjoy their family chanukkah parties but some people don't. And that's okay too.

Reminds me of the serial in the Ami living illusions… but I totally relate. I’m dreading mine because they’re all so emotionally toxic… it’s only a few hours… then takes a couple of days to detox. Lol..

I do this so often when I sit with a pack of sheep (read: followers). I laugh inside knowing they can’t afford their life and trying to impress me when I’m hearing xyz and couldn’t care less. Impress me with education, with handiwork, with a good laugh, not with a label or a diamond.
