Why the need to go all the way to the carnivore extreme? | For some people, plant foods are bad for their gut. Look into oxalates, phytic acid, antinutrients, phenols, lectins.

And only eating animal products is the answer?

Yes, it can be very healing. Animal products do not contain any oxalates.

Why does it matter what other people do? You do you?

For the record: I eat extremely clean. No processed foods or refined sugars for close to three years.
I had a baby five months ago and can’t lose a single lb. It’s very disheartening.
I think I will do it after pesach. Here goes nothing.
Thanks y’all!

If you’re already doing the above it won’t be such a huge adaptation. Let us know how it goes!

I did it for a month.
Ate eggs, fish, a little bit of cheese,
butter, chicken, turkey, meat, liver, duck fat, schmaltz, and spices.
Cons:
It wasn't cheap. When you aren't using onions and sauces, the quality of meat really makes a difference. Organic really is better. I didn't realize how much we depend on sauces and veggies to mask the taste of low quality meat.
It got boring.
TMI; my bowel movements were weird.
I didn't lose any weight.
Pros
My skin improved.
I had more energy.
My body was more toned. (I did weight training as well)
I felt full.
No cravings after week 1.

If you eat vegetables, you aren't doing the carnivore diet.
I eliminated carbs, and I eat primarily protein and vegetables. Again, that is not the carnivore diet.
Carnivore diet is ONLY animals, no plants. |
Can you share more? I'm interested in doing sth like this. Did you lose a lot? Did you eliminate salad dressings etc too? How strict were you?

Are you nursing?
If yes, don't try to lose weight eat for your baby.
If not,
You just had a baby, your sleep schedule is all over the place. Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain.
Enjoy your baby don't turn your self into a pretzel trying to do the impossible. People should be more forgiving of them self when they have a baby.

I thought I would share my experience. I have been on the modified carnivore diet for the last 3 and 1/2 months. I say modified because I still have things like coconut oil, coffee, and on Shabbat of course vegetables and some gluten-free oat challah. I also make keto healthy whole food thing for my kids and sometimes to eat a little. I started out with the Zoe harcombe diet, which includes fruits and vegetables that is following many of the same principles of the carnivore diet. Real food only and the way ancestrally we've always eaten. If you look in your cupboard 90% of the things that you'll find there were never found in anyone's home 100 years ago. And some, if they were, it was a rare occurrence.
The most nutritionally dense foods do come from red meat, eggs and fish.
I wanted to lose weight, I wanted to correct my very very slow metabolism, I wanted to find my energy again I was so low energy and exhausted all the time. I also wanted to heal my inflammation. What have I seen?
The biggest change for me has been my energy. I have unbelievable amounts of energy compared to before I started this diet. I no longer feel like I'm falling asleep in the afternoons, I sleep better, and I just feel myself getting back to me. I understand that this is mostly from having my insulin and glucose stable. I thought it was before because I've always been very careful about it, but this really made a huge difference. I've seen weight loss, and I know some of my health issues will take longer than a few months to correct.
I started the diet eating vegetables and then I just stoped being interested in them. I had lots of things I was making like 100% chocolate with a little bit of stevia as my treat. And I stopped being interested in any kind of treats or vegetables or fruits about 85 to 90% of the time. I found that I'm not hungry between meals, I don't snack. I only crave steak and other meats. I am a sugarholic and I walk into my favorite bakery and I look around and go yum everything looks delicious and I have no desire for anything. Many of our craving come from mineral imbalances. And if I do have a sweet craving I eat a little bit of real himalyn salt and it goes away.
I am past menopause and I know The healthy fats are extremely satiating and important for the hormonal function of our bodies. So I'm eating lots of butter and I make my own tallow by rendering beef fat.
Another reason I call it modified, is because I was told I need to have at least 20-30 carbs a day for my personal system to be in balance. Its easy to get from onions, avocado or some macadamia nuts or in some dairy (I only do ghee or butter)
Meal prep is very simple. I throw meat in the crock pot, Fry up ground meat, which is one of the best meats to eat because of all the conective tissues, and steaks and eggs. For my health I eat sardines. My kids are starting to prefer meat over everything else. I think their body craves the nutrition. And I can see this as a lifestyle choice.
I could never see myself fully going back. I just love the amount of energy I receive from keeping my system so stable.
I would love to see a kosher carnivore community. We could all benefit greatly from supporting one another and sharing the things we learn.

Jumping this up cuz I just started the carnivore diet today and trying to get clarity. I felt full the whole day with no cravings for any snacks (huge snacker) and wanna understand-these proteins are the most nutritionally dense? Aren't vegetables healthier for you?

You’re basically only eating meat, eggs, fish. Any animal product.
Reviews online are incredible for weight loss but somehow it seems so wrong and unhealthy.
I’m desperate for weight loss. It’s affecting my entire life and makes me so sad.
Thoughts? |
It can be great to heal illnesses.
It can also be great SHORT TERM for weight loss. Short term, because healthy bodies needs vitamins and minerals that can only be found in produce. If you can add in fruits and veggies and keep it super high protein, that’s an ideal diet right there.

I did it for two months and lost twenty lbs. I kept the weight off for five more and just started again. Already down three lbs in a week.
I feel so good. My headaches are gone, my energy level is insane, I have no sugar cravings, and a skin rash I had is almost healed.

Many people do well eating carnivore for years. They feel sick when they add produce.
What vitamins and minerals can they not get from carnivore diet?
I know that vegetarians and vegans need b12 because they can only get that from animal proteins.
