Comes out to over $300 (and I give very small amounts compared to others). It's really crazy I wish this whole tipping thing would be STOPPED for once and for all
And I gotta find the time to sit down and write out 14 cards and envelopes...help
How many people are you tipping? |
3 kids and tipping 16 people.
Rebbe, Morahs, assistants, kids therapist, bus drivers, babysitter

Youre kidding?????! They would rather $150 cash over 7 small gift cards from stores they never visit along with homemade chocolate and 3 mugs.

The note specifically said to give money individually and not gifts. And they said not to chip in but to give individual monetary gifts, because with individual the teachers get more money
I am struggling financially and owe over $2000 in medical bills. If it was chip in I would give $10. Individually I cannot give 10 because it's not "respectable."

Give what you can! No need to go into debt here. A nice card and $10-15 is perfect

1 kid. 2 teachers, bus teacher, bus driver. I assume they will collect for a gift for the principal and maybe other office staff.
When do you send the tip? First day, last day, any day in between?

You can totally give 10$
I was so appreciative when I get 10$ when I was a morah and totally understood

I personally am so happy to write cards for everyone that work with my children. Yes, it takes time, so I started days in advance

What's wrong with the morahs/rebeim making more money with individual gifts? Good for them- I hope they come home with a nice amount. I just don't like it that the school had to say it.
Why can't you give what you would typically give as a chip in but just individually if that's what works for you?

Ugh. I thought our former menahel was the only one who promoted that. It's ridiculous.
Give a muffin or chocolate and a detailed card.

I don't know.
I just used up an entire checkbook for this cause.
BH for this. All this tipping is a fraction of the cost of IF treatments.
A freilichen chanukah and a heartfelt thanks to every single person who plays even the smallest seemingly insignificant part in my children's hatzluche. May Hashem repay you in kind, more than I can ever pay any of you. Thank you.

I am a morah and the tipping has to STOP!!!! I don't want blood money from the parents. I know that I need to do the same for MY kids teachers. I dont want and don't want to give. It's the truth!!! This is a career choice its not up to the parents to make up the deficit. I see the middle class students in my class struggling and I don't want their money. Tipping means for some people , Lying to my cleaning help that I am sick because they cant afford her this week. It means one less craft activity during vacation to buy etc etc. The money burns a hole in my pocket. The card that they write does not and even though I moved three times so far I kept them ALL. Ladies PLEASE PLEASE LETS PUT AN END TO THIS.

You would chip in 3.50 for a class gift? I always thought it was at least 15-25
Like a morah knows how much you chipped in with a class gift anyway because she can just divide the ammount

I'm speaking to that particular mom that would rather chip in. There are other parents that don't mind giving a bit more than what the class gift asks for.

Seriously, no one is being forced to gift. (please stop using the word tip, rebbeim & teachers are not common workers).
I've given 18, I've given 500.
I've given none.

Something tells me that the parents who are just itching to give more are not the majority

I really wish I could tip my kids teachers $500 each for everything they do for them like I wish I could buy a family member of mine a house and pay off my parents and my own mortgage. I wish I could give everything but im just not able to. Hope my kid being the cutest makes up for it
