I have 3 kids and 14 people to tip between them...

Comes out to over $300 (and I give very small amounts compared to others). It's really crazy I wish this whole tipping thing would be STOPPED for once and for all

And I gotta find the time to sit down and write out 14 cards and envelopes...help

How many people are you tipping?

I think this whole tipping culture is absurd and should be abolished.

I live OOT where it’s not as expected and I still do it. I give extremely little; I don’t do cash. I still do it even though many don’t and I won’t stick out. I really believe in it.
And yes, I spent less than $65 for 8 teachers.

What’s a service building and who are the 24 people in it you need to tip? Sounds like an expensive life.

I didn't decide yet if I'm doing bus drivers. 2 kids and 11 people between them!! If I add bus drivers that's 2 more, bus monitors another 2.

service building means it employs doorman, super, repairmen, security etc . there are tons of benefits (packages and food deliveries are received, returns are picked up. also if/ when my bathroom floods on a shabbis all I need to do is let the doorman know) the fixed expensives are high but there aren’t any unknowns (no termites or roof to replace or gutters to clean or gardner to pay or snow to shovel.) plus the obvious and most important: security

10 for three kids (plus 3 chip-ins)
Mesivta son: only rebbi (large chip-in for English teachers)
Young elementary daughter: two teachers, two assistants
Older elementary daughter: two teachers
1 bus driver
1 school security guard
1 mailman

I hate hate hate writing out the cards. The worst.

2 kids -
1 bus driver $15 Starbucks
3 Morahs $50 total was group gift - id really love to get them something small and personal
1 rebbi $52
1 housekeeper $25 amazon

I probably should gift the secretary, principal, 3 therapists, 2 ABA, but I really can’t afford it Sad so I’m undecided. Maybe I’ll just do Purim.

Plus my kids presents, family gifts, parents… it’s too much.

Not tipping so many because of chips ins but I will say that chat gpt is great at taking the points I want to include in my cards and organizing them into nice normal language.

Well I would love chip-ins, but two of my kids schools (I have kids in 3 school) sent home notes demanding that we send in a monetary gift and personal note, and that we should not chip in because then the teachers end up with less money.

Cuz this is really all about hakaras hatov and not good old fashioned greed and lust for money /s
