"2. Rebbeim salaries and family size. I guess in Mr. Orzel’s world only people in Klei kodesh are entitled to have large families? To use family size as an explanation for why rebbeim need more pay or more funds for simchos rubbed me the wrong way. | "

Some of his numbers made him sound completely out of touch. The seminary number - very possible to do it for less than $40-50k. I don't think its the norm for everyone to get a 12,000-15,000 sheitel, and the vouchers, while every bit helps, does not help so much if you are making above a certain income, and the schools still charge.
My favorite part was when he said - you don't have to stay at the Waldorf when you go to Israel, the Plaza is half the price! most "regular" people I know stay in an airBnB if they can or a rented apartment.
I don't think anyone will tell him or people like him that they are getting anything wrong though

I agree with you but the seminary number actually might be accurate. I'm hearing that seminary prices are in the 30-35k range these days. When I went to seminary it was around 20k. Add in the insane cost of flights with direct elal cuz of the war and the cost of just living etc, I can see prices being over 40k.

Yup!
Prices are rising but salaries are basically the same unless you’re constantly being promoted, or struck it rich
I’m waiting to hear a solution to all the wasteful spending going on, we don’t qualify for a break and we’re living simply in an oot low pressured neighborhood … our mortgage and tuition are our biggest expenses, we barely shop, def don’t have lavish simchas, or wanting any of that, I guess we’re not in that world … still 15k -20k a kid is a fortune 🙈

Wow I just finished watching the entire podcast. OP thank you for posting! This was a fascinating interview and very eye opening.
Two takeaways (that I got) - we as a community NEED to start prioritizing our children's tuition, and we as a community need to tone down the social "needs" such as seminary.
He's a fascinating person and this was a fascinating interview.
