Most of the time we use our own bath towels to dry hands in the bathroom and leave the hand towel for guests. In any case, we're not wiping dirty hands on the towels. We wash hands first, then use the towels to dry. Why, do you use hand towels to wipe dirty hands clean?

I mean, if I wash all the towels together in the same load, washclothes and bath towels and hand towels need to be sorted to be piled up in the linen closet.
I'm not doing that. I'm washing only one type of thing in the load and it all gets folded and piled up.

All towels except shmatta together on hot twice a week.
We are 8 ppl in the house

We don't wash dirty hands with hand towels, but it's still used by several people.... as well as for wiping faces.
Hand towels have germs even if they're used to wash clean hands. Or even of they're used in the kitchen when washing for bread.
