I thought they were. If so, are there people on this site who don't shop there for that reason?

I've no idea if that's true or not. But while the atrocities of the holocaust should not and cannot be forgotten, the fact is that Germany is a pretty good ally to Israel right now, so don't see the logic in financially punishing the current populace of that country at this time.

It's good to have the sensitivity, many people don't. But I think it's important to the differentiate between companies that participated in the Holocaust and companies that happen to be german. I hold a grudge against the former not the latter.

Well, yes. Certainly I'd never drive around in a Volkswagen no matter who's running the place now.

Your loss. They're really safe and good cars.
In Israel there are many Volkswagens and Mercedes on the roads

Plenty of other safe, good cars. I'm sure they're great, but for me it would feel too..... (don't even know how to end this sentence. Just too.....)

Don't you think it might be more appropriate to care where your gasoline & expensive cotton come from today? The Germans aren't currently active killing us right now.

But yes, they are German. It's ironic though that I would be more upset with buying VW because it was Hitler y"s baby /project than the other companies who used hair, skin and all that. All I think is the ones who murdered are mostly dead by now and not getting supported by our purchases. Lots of people hate us everywhere & everyone has killed us at one time or another. Also corporations that are public are kind of not directly supporting anyone.

The World At Large hates us, there's nothing we can do to change that.

Volkswagen, BMW, Bayer - these are companies that still exist today, companies that gladly used Jewish slave labor to make their profits or worse
Even when I go to EY, I refuse to be driven in a Mercedes or VW.

It's repulsive.

It's pretty crazy that you can buy Bayer products in Jewish stores today!

That’s because of reparations.

I grew up not buying things made in Germany. I don't shop at Aldi's or trader Joe's and believe it or not, I don't have a Bosch.

Never heard that either of these stores are German owned !

And I grew up in a home that was extremely extremely anti German and strong minded with regards to the pain the Germans caused.

2 of my grandparents were Auschwitz survivors, the other 2 holocaust survivors. My parents never bought a Bosch either and I can’t bring myself to buy one either. I heard throughout my childhood about how “we” should never support German owned businesses. Even my mother today long after her parents passed away feels distain towards any fellow Jew who drives a Volkswagen. That’s how strong minded she feels about it- the mindset went straight through the next generation.

But I go often to Trader Joe’s - feels weird to have supported them!

I saw a video not too long ago showing a bunch of whackadoo pro-palestinian women going into a TJs with signs and screaming for a boycott of Israeli products in their stores. TJs refused to stop carrying Israeli products (is the follow up I heard). So I'm pretty happy supporting this business at this time. German or not.
