I’m designing a small pesach kitchen.
It will have just a few cabinets. I have space for either a tall pantry or a fridge.
I think I would want more space to keep our pesach dishes, machines (mixer, food processor, urn..) and instead I can put a second fridge/freezer in the garage. There is an entrance from my regular kitchen into my garage without going outside.
Would you prefer a fridge or a large pantry?
I prefer both 😊 but there isn’t enough space so I have to pick one!
Which would you choose?

Fridge

That way you can prepare in advance and save for for yt
A pantry is nice but to have things out for a week isn’t such a big deal

Depends on the proximity of your regular kitchen. My Pesach kitchen is a room right off my regular kitchen so I don't have a pesach fridge. I've got two just steps away. But if you were making a pesach kitchen on another floor or the other end of the house, then definitely you should put in a fridge.

On Y"T when warming up food, cooking etc having your fridge nearby is very convenient.

I would definitely take the pantry over the fridge.

If you have a fridge freezer that you can use when cooking in advance I would think the space for appliances is a better use of the space.
I did not put in a fridge freezer I have one in my basement making peach is a dream. The day before yon tov I “turn over” my main fridge freezer in my regular kitchen.
I don’t regret not putting the fridge freezer in the peach kitchen.

Depends how close your fridge/freezer is to the Pesach kitchen. I personally love cooking in advance so I would choose fridge freezer over pantry. You can always buy a stand alone pantry or shelving unit to keep near your Pesach kitchen just for a couple of weeks and then remove /dismantle.

My Pesach kitchen is right off my main kitchen so I didn’t put a fridge. When I cook in advance I bring all the food to garage freezer and fridge. For a pantry I put up plastic shelving, the kind you can order on Amazon or Lowe’s and snap together. I take it apart after pesach and put the pieces in storage. I use it for all ingredients that don’t need fridge, oil, nuts, baking stuff, spices and stuff.
If you need to choose between fridge or pantry, I’d choose fridge/freezer and do plastic shelves for pantry when you cook for Pesach.

Me too.
I have a back up fridge in the basement that I clean a few weeks before and that becomes my Pesach fridge. A pantry means you won’t have to store away your dishes and pots, it’ll have a home.

Maybe a small fridge? I mean what else are you going to do when it's time to start cooking - keep your eggs and stuff with the chometz and decontaminate every time you go back and forth? Feels like it kind of defeats the purpose of the pesach kitchen.

Where would you keep the bowls etc if you don’t have a pantry?

FYI- you can rent a fridge for a week. They will deliver it all clean and pick it up

Pantry. Having a fridge a short walk away for 3 weeks isn’t so bad.

I'd definitely put a pantry if you can put a fridge somewhere else. I added some cabinets to my tiny Pesach kitchen and the best part is that I don't have to shlep things and turning over takes a fraction of the time after yom tov, since everything stays in its place.

Hands down fridge. I don't have one. I don't have the space for it. I complain every year again and again.

Fridge! I have a chest freezer in mine as well which I use as an extra surface. As game changer. I have shelves towards one end for all my ingredients but I've used just the boxes that the store delivers in, until last year.

You can live out of boxes for a couple of weeks. The goal is to get all your cooking done a couple of weeks before y't so that you can concentrate on the cleaning.

The chometz fridge won't be ready and cleaned for Pesach stuff 3 weeks before y't. They still need to eat normally.

Although I used to just do the top shelf and use that but it's so much easier now, you can't compare.

Most have kitchen cupboards under the sink/countertops to store all of that.

She wrote that they have a fridge in the garage which is right off the kitchen.
OP with that available I'd go for the pantry. Otherwise I'd get the fridge, but it seems you have a great setup

Pantry
You already have a second fridge just clean it earlier and you’ll have a pesach fridge and pantry

Btw pantry is for more than pots and pans
Remember all the boxes and bags filled with things like spices and matzah and snacks etc usually sitting piled up in a corner with a sheet draped over it well now they’ll have an easily accessible place to store it
