Trying to organize my kids clothes that they’ve grown out of.
I know baby undershirts are common to save from one kid to the next. At what age does that stop?
Do I save size 3/4/5? Do I save just undershirts and not underpants? Do I save the matching sets?
Can I give to a Gemach if not? Or do I just toss it?
Really not sure what the norm is with this.
Thanks.

Underwear and socks throw out!!!
If undershirts aren't torn or stained can pass down to next kid until they are old enough to care.
Don't give any of these to a gemach.

Do not give used underwear to a gemach.
Consider what you would do with your own used underwear. Then consider that young children regularly soil their underwear or at least don’t wipe properly.

I only kept undies for 3 year olds because of potty training and them possibly being tossed anyway

Unless you have a sibling that actually wants them. I do pass down underwear actually. It goes in the wash. No big deal.

I don't mind passing underwear and undershirts from one kid to the next but I don't think I save them

Not a Gemach.
After about 5 years in storage the elastic crumbles (same with elastic waste pajamas) . So I won’t save unless I know I have a kid coming up to pass it to.

Op is this a real question?
You really think you should donate used underwear to a gamach?

Only size 2t underwear gets past down . We never share underwear. Undershirts get past in house only until... teen boys need new often and they get thrown out when done

I have a good friend I pass underwear to. Obviously I check it and only unstained and good quality which has some wear still in it. Just like other baby clothes or young child clothes. I wouldn't pass teenage or adult underwear on, that isn't OK partly because of the society we live in.
I always check with this friend and she is good with second hand underwear. Others may not be.

Ok sorry I wasn’t clear there are places like pick purple that take anything to shred so was referring to them. Although I remember having a conversation with someone from a Gemach once and they said people donate and take underwear from them.

Thanks all for the replies. I’m definitely only referring to little kids underwear like I said 3/4/5 maybe 6/7/8. And I’d only pass down to my own kids. But it seems like many are saying it’s normal and ok to toss and I shouldn’t hold on for the next kid.
I’d prefer to toss and buy new but I just wanted to make sure I’m not crazy and wasting money.

My oldest three are all the same relations, and have passed down underwear so far (size 6 being the biggest passed so far). They were all cloth-diapered, meaning they wore the same diapers. The ones the youngest of that set is growing out of are getting cut up for cleaning rags because the elastic is already wonky, but my kids don't see it as different from everything else they hand down and nor do I, among siblings. Definitely don't give to a gemach.
