I don't think that's true of my neighborhood. I'm pretty sure it's not.

What a rude thing to say.

Another wife of a rebbe earning 55 here.
Enjoying the love on this thread.
Yes, 55k in town is very standard. Not sure why you think 145k is standard, just because some random fellow at the Aguda convention decided it is. Dh actually works 3 additional jobs so we can get by.
But carry on with your ranting against Rebbeim.

I can't get past the fact that he said 18k for camp as a necessity for "many kids". Calculated 3 kids, full summer @ 6k each.

I just want to say to all teachers and wives of rebbeim on this thread: I know it’s a huge sacrifice. The rebbeim and teachers in my kids’ school do not get paid well at all. If I could afford I’d love to buy each of my kids’ rebbeim and teachers a house and car! I pay full tuition (BH can afford) and try to give tzedakah to the school bec I firmly believe our kids Rebbeim and teachers are heroes who deserve every penny and should be able to live a dignified life.

Darchei didn't mention numbers but didn't argue with them either. So probably similar. I think most of the more well-known litvish yeshivas are similar |
YSV
Has their books opened because they file as a school and not a congregation
YSV is making a nice profit a year….
So it makes sense hey pay their rebbe well
Go to the more yeshivish schools the rebbes are making a lot less

I hate the way it became so common to turn the parents into fundraisers with all these charity campaigns.
I might be wrong but I think in the past the fundraising was the job of the school's official fundraiser. They'd travel the world to fundraise for the school.
Maybe what we need is not higher tuition but more professional fundraisers at the top that know where the big money is.

Rebbeim are getting $140k a year plus extras for making simchas!
My husband and I net close to that and don't get any extras for simchas.
There in lies the issue. The expectation that rebbeim need to earn more than the average person.
Teachers working 3 hours a day making $50k?
His numbers for living expenses make sense. His salaries and expectations are astronomical. |
Huh. My husband is a rebbe and makes 70k. Not 140k

Which part are you stuck on? I think the speech was very realistic!! Regardless of what position he holds and his financial status

Did anyone pick up in the beginning when they spoke about all the donuts and sterns being delivered. He spoke about kids today “needing” all these things.
I’m not saying that alone will solve the crisis but I do think schools spend on extra things that are not necessary in the name of “kids today need donuts or they are going off the derech” - and that attitude is part of the ripple effect that has lead to financial issues accross our entire community.
