But my point is, why should a school administrator be able to afford the luxury of staying at the Waldorf. If he can then his salary needs to be reevaluated.
And rebbeim are getting $140k a year plus extras for making simchas!
My husband and I net close to that and don't get any extras for simchas.
There in lies the issue. The expectation that rebbeim need to earn more than the average person.
Teachers working 3 hours a day making $50k?
His numbers for living expenses make sense. His salaries and expectations are astronomical. |
Where on earth are rebbeim being paid $140k a year?! If you write untruths like this, then people will continue and increase in their criticism of rebbeim and their benefits.
Honestly, heres the truth: My husband's main job as a REbbi pays him about $55k a year. He has been a rebbi for over 25 years. He does not not not earn $140k. He works multiple other small jobs year round that leave him exhausted, to try and earn a living salary.
PLEASE dont perpetuate the myth that rebbeim are well paid. What nonsense.

New teachers get less. 80k is after 25 years of teaching full day 6 days/week.

this is so so rude and hurtful. My husband (a rebbi) works himself into the ground and earns $55k from his main job as a rebbi, working 7.30-2.15pm. thats just his main job. He has other jobs too to help make a living, and has to find time for parent teacher communication etc.
we LOVE to complain? not in my world. how rude.

My bil is getting paid 75k 10 years experience, 2 free boys tuitions. 2 girls tuitions at the sister school pretax.
So his paycheck says 65k but that includes the value of 4 tuitions. |
I am in the workforce for about 20 years. Most of it working full time. Still not making $100k
And tuition doesn't come out pretext.
Based on the reduced tuition I am paying, your bil is making about $90-$100k.
That is not really a low salary.
Plus I'm sure he gets tips from parents that add up and if he made a simcha the school would likely give a bonus towards that

I'm not writing untruths. I am quoting a school administrator that gave those numbers publicly. I even included a clip to the link.
Because you don't want to check it out doesn't make me a liar. Go have a listen for yourself!

My dh is a rebbe of over 10 years and maybe he needs to ask for a raise!
We get $54k... No free tuition but a little over half. We are not making it at all.

Does it say which school in the clip? I don't think that amount is widespread.

Just fyi, he is not the administrator of the school and is wealthy in his own right. He is head of the board and I doubt he even gets paid for all that he does. |
I don't talk about specific people becuase it is always loshon hara, so I should not be joining in... but I want to emphasize that when a wealthy person is involved in a school (I know Mr. Orzel very well, as well as many other school board members- he is the Board President, not admin in any capacity) they are absolutely not on any form of payroll and are donating their time and expertise (business expertise and other talents) to help schools. To be clear- board members are NOT paid- they are volunteering their services.
It would be terrible for struggling parents to think that board members are being paid to help the schools out and lining their pockets. It is not the case!

Not every rebbi has simcha. In some schools every rebbi is called rabbi no matter what. In some schools, even some of the secular studies frum teachers are called rabbi. Just because someone has the title rabbi before their name doesn’t mean they actually earned said title.

YSV.
Darchei didn't mention numbers but didn't argue with them either. So probably similar. I think most of the more well-known litvish yeshivas are similar

Ok, I apologize.
I thought he was introduced as the administrator. Made it sound like he was.
I didn't realize he is an unpaid board member. That wasn't clear. Sorry!
I can delete my post but the quoted ones will still show

Tips can be between 800-1000/year, for us.
No the school does not give towards a simcha.

Maybe some volunteer. Many board members get a salary.

Most board members do not get paid a cent, if anything they work to raise money.
