My insurance doesn't cover anything meant for weight loss/obesity.
However, if it's medically necessary they may cover it. Anyone have experience with this? I have high cholesterol, blood pressure... Anyone know if this would help get it covered? (Nutritionist/shots)
I've been back and forth with my doctor and insurance so many times and I'm still getting nowhere.
Thank you in advance!

In general just wanting to lose weight isn't sufficient.

In general you would need a disease that is specifically linked to obesity or nutrition like diabetes.

High cholesterol or blood pressure isn't enough of a need according to insurance standards.
Neither is "just" obesity (as you can have normal blood levels).

It needs to be something "bigger" R"L like diabetes, PCOS, etc. If you can document that, then you are good.

Ask your insurance company for the list of what constitutes medical necessity and see if you meet any of that criteria.

Dh had a nutritionist covered for many years since his sugar is high and he has high blood pressure. Now that he's diabetic, Ozempic is covered.
