What age would you let your dc babysit for a short amount of time ie so you can go to PTA? Younger siblings would include a baby, and 2 others age 5 and 8.

This is very dependent on 1) How mature dc is and how fast they can be to act in an emergency 2) how fast can you get back from PTA if something goes wrong and 3) will your 5 and 8 year old's play nicely together or are they the type to get wild and fight?
Personally I live 5 minutes from my kids school and my kids will play nicely enough that I will leave my 14 year old home with them. I also did when he was 13. But your kids arent mine. When my oldest was 12 I only left him with sleeping children and only when I could get back very quickly.

I would say 14 if baby is included. 12 if it was just the 5 and 8 year old and they're the type to cooperate

I let my 11 year old babysit kids 5 and up for half an hour if I’m nearby. I would not allow under 13 for a baby and toddler. My reasoning is it’s too much to juggle in an emergency.

Same but it was typically close neighbors who were just out for dinner locally and could come home if it went south. I didn't take long and late night jobs until high school.
