Why don’t you use the messages app on the iPhone? It can send iMessages and standard sms messages based on the recipients device. Why is a special app necessary?

I used to have message plus and when it told me about the switch I switched over to Google message and I've been very happy. It carried over all of my text message threads.
The only thing I noticed that's missing is the pictures. If I had specific pictures that I had done in the message plus app it is no longer there.

Not everyone has iPhone. And when you have Android through Verizon it had the message plus app preloaded so it was the default. If you had an Android through some other carrier then it had some other app preloaded.
Eta just double-checked and I'm not going to lose my pictures because I didn't do that in the message plus app. I did that in the phone's contacts so there's absolutely no downside that I see.

So confused. Came here to check if I'm the only one..
I also got that message and my husband switched over. From message+ (red icon) to messages (blue)
I don't like it. It's sending me unnecessary messages after every reply.
Can I go back to message+?
Why were they ending? Did I have to switch?

This explains why Verizon is shutting down The message Plus app
So you have to switch to something else if you don't like what they're suggesting, find a different message app.
