I am standing in the kitchen, or sitting on the couch, just minding my own business, maybe talking on the phone, when suddenly a small child zooms into the room and flings himself at me. He wraps his arms around me and holds on real tight.

Less than a beat later, another small child (but bigger than the first) comes running into the room. He stops short when he sees his brother at base. He knows he can't go further. His brother is safe. He has reached the Ir miklat.

Whatever happened between them, I don't know, I wasn't there. But they both know that when their brother reaches the Ir miklat, he is safe from any avengers.

All he can do is talk, tell me his side, and try to get me to side with him. Which of course I masterfully avoid doing, because I am a master at deflection. Boys can forgive and forget really fast, I've learned.

After a few minutes, both boys forget their greviences and are happily playing again.
Not always, but sometimes. I try to focus on those times.

And then I go back to minding my own business , until the next time I have to function as an Ir miklat.

Really not so fun when it’s pre-teens. I usually lock myself in my room and let them fight it out.

Oh yes, this wouldn't work for preteens. You would need much more sophisticated tactics...
But I do try to teach them when they're young to use their words rather than their hands and feet. So we can only hope that they will remember this in their old age.

That’s my first guess, but she didn’t confirm.

Either way great job OP, and so so true!

But she didn't deny. I doubt op would accept the title if it wouldn't be true. But yes, I'll wait for the official confirmation before spreading the rumor.

It starts with words and ends with hands and feet
